A mentally ill Florida man was arrested for allegedly beating his mother and stabbing his girlfriend’s eyes before throwing their 1-year-old daughter out of a window Saturday, authorities said.

Pierre Francois, 29, first attacked his mother in their Fort Lauderdale home by beating her with a two-by-four as she demanded him to stop hurting her during a schizophrenic episode, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office said.

That's true but it doesn't discount the fact it is a horrible disease and can tear families apart.......

Back in the 80's a close friend's brother developed schizophrenia. One day he drove from northern Michigan to my place in S.E. Michigan, approx. 280 miles, and asked if he could stay the night since he had an appointment with the French embassy in downtown Detroit the next morning.........

I called up his brother who lived across town and he came over and spent the evening with us. Skip stayed the night and he was gone by the time I got home from work the next day........

My brother has it. He’s done much better as he’s grown older (60). I’ve learned a lot about this disease having to deal with it On a personal level. Also, there are different forms of it. There is paranoid, hallucinating, etc. The meds make them feel terrible. So, that’s one of the main reasons they don’t like to take it.
