I’m not sure how deep it is - our water table is really high- maybe 20 feet below ground level, but I know they went deeper down the hill where the well is.

He said the pump is fine - it’s just not hooked up to power since we had our timber cut and the power was disconnected at that point- we have county water for our house. But as I was thinking about this I remembered that DH has this big elevated water tank next to the barn which holds 500 gallons. It’s for potable water, so we could fill that up even with the county water for the time being.

We have a water tank we fill from the well pump and that’s what we use for the house. It’s 2500 gallons and we refill once a week or whever it goes partway down, just to keep it topped off. Having 500 gallons on hand is never a bad thing. It’s amazing how much water you use just for basics even if trying to scrimp.

with a well that shallow, you could use a pitcher pump or hand pump
Before it is too late, I would get whatever couplings needed so that you can swap from electric pump to hand pump. Just in case you are cut off from county water.

I was thinking last night as I went to sleep that I should have suggested a hand pump - 20 ft defintely would work for that.
