I think Peter Schweizer has his head up his keizer. The Chao's are Taiwan from away back. James Chao was with the Chinese nationalists back when Taiwan was set up.
Schweizer was confused about the shipbuilding company, too. There's a China State Shipbuilding Company (China) and a China Shipbuilding Company (Taiwan), now known as CSBC Corporation.
McConnell seems compromised, but not directly by the CCP, rather he's compromised by the Deep State, which is one step removed.
