The #Armor branch traces its origin to the Cavalry back when the drafted the Continental Congress Resolve of 12 December 1776. I thought helicopters were the new cavalry.
Least that's what they told me in the Mel Gibson movie We Were Soldiers.
(which is two Bags up, btw)

Remember the Cavalry Colonel in 'Apocalypse Now' who loved the smell of Napalm in the morning? He said choppers were the new Cavalry too. They were all correct. If you look it up, The 1st Cavalry unit is unique in that it has served as a horseback cavalry division, an infantry division, an air assault division and an armored division during its existence.
So all are correct. On top of that, my grandfather was in an Armored Division in WWII and they spent time on horseback as well.

I loved that movie. Also liked the Green Berets. But they did make me cry.
