WTF is the “Trace”?
To me that is something to do with art supplies and “onion skin” thin paper.
Think "Natchez Trace" in this case. Trace, in this case, is an indicator that the original route originated in pre-motoring days as a trail, animal or Amerindian. Just an example of how English is like "Fibber Mcgee's closet", words go in but never leave! (Yeah, I like classic radio!)

LOL - I was wondering if others would ask. I only know of it from studying maps (for you millennials, think GPS output printed on paper), and only saw it once, looking down from an overpass that was crossing it.
It’s like a linear national park, grade-separated (that’s highway talk) from other roads. Something like 500 miles, 2 lanes (total). Looks like a fun drive.
