Was just looking at the 12th amendment again and the second phrase (after the 1st comma) just caught my eye....
“The Electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves,,,”
So one of each states electors must come from another state.... I hadn’t realized that before.
Pretty sure that’s the requirement that says President and Vice President have to be from different states - it’s not referring to the electors.
no president and vp must come from separate states
So one of each states electors must come from another state.... I hadn’t realized that before.

I took that to mean that the VP and President can’t both come from the same state as the electors. But I have no clue.
As I recall in 2000 there was a little exercise in getting Cheney back to WY because otherwise both he and Bush 43 would have been from TX ... there was something he needed to do to be sure and establish residency to satisfy the requirement.

The intent here is that the President and Vice President may not be from the same state. JMO.
