My husband had chronic Kidney disease for many years. I was constantly on him to drink more water.
You said his doctor told him the energy drinks might have caused it so to stop those and drink coffee instead. That is what energy drinks are is TONS of caffeine. Caffeine is dehydrating. I guess if he only has 1-2 cups of coffee a day it would be less caffeine.
