When in formation the lead aircraft will “squawk” ID to air traffic control, everyone else will turn theirs off. The formation is handled as one aircraft by ATC and if all squawk at the same time it looks like mass traffic conflicts.
Normal ops.
Saturday ops are usually in support of Army deployments or exercises. This late in the year everyone is trying to get the last of their training requirements accomplished before the $$ run out!
Gov Shutdown could be very likely next week.

While mil assets (white hat and black hat) are probably aware of shifts in air traffic noticed by planefags, the rest of the public is not (white hats and black hats/antifas etc.). If transponders are turned off then perhaps our reporting of of their movements should probably also be turned down or shared via pm.
I am gone to share MWerx via email if at all from this point forward. My apologies for my over enthusiasm.
