n my area hospitalizations are way up. fortunately deaths are fairly stable meaning the death rate is dropping substantially. That said there are still some folks getting very sick. of course the state keeps doubling down on stupid increasing restrictions with no change in the rise in infection rates at all

Indeed, as I wrote below, this highly-contagious but (except for the elderly and those with comorbidities) not very lethal virus is here to stay. If the governors would protect the infirm and the vulnerable without destroying everyone else's life that'd be great.
