ah, i see your posted excerpts did say it ‘speared through the barrier’ - He’s so lucky to have remained conscious- I can’t even imagine the panic of trying to get all the harasses and wires undone just to be able to get out- So glad we saw the outcome we did-
God was watching over Him for sure.
The nose of the car started the splitting of ARMCO rails 2 & 3 (bottom & middle) and the HALO did it’s job and kept Romain from Decapitation plain and simple.
absolutely- Thank God the Halo held- totally different ending if it hadn’t- I looked at the gap after, when they were fixing it, and am amazed at how narrow it was and how little room the front end of the car had to go through it- if any little change had happened, like floorboard gettign ripped out or side peeling back in to the cockpit, wow- he was absolutely blessed during that crash
I’ve only witnessed one tragedy in sports- Duk Koo Kim I beleive was his name- fought Boom Boom Mancini- Kim was beaten so bad he collapsed in the ring and died- I can still see it in my mind- you just don’t get rid of something like that- Thankfully we got to see Romain walk away :)
Check out Pics in Post # 22 of ARMCO Nosecone-HALOed apart.
If there had been no HALO Romain’s Head and Helmet would either have been stuck in ARMCO center rail or rolling around the scene and His torso would have still been belted in the burning Cockpit.
Guardian Angel without a doubt.
We certainly witnessed history in the making really- The Miracle Escape- 20 years from now we’ll be able to tell folks ‘Yep- I saw it live on TV’
After lookin at those fotos of the Halo- It looks as though it wasn’t just the Halo that saved his life- but God’s intervention via a ‘perfectly executed crash scene circumstances’ or rather protection during the crash scene that allowed him to live-
I wonder if He’ll race again? Coming face to face w/ death like that has a profound effect on folks-
INDYCAR has a HALO that also has Windscreen (?LEXAN?) they added after the Death of Justin Wilson at Pocono in 2015
Prior to the HALOSCREEN (My name for it) INDYCAR made this change Advanced Frontal Protection
i think the surround is only Indy cars, but i maybe wrong
It looked to me like a combination of miracles that allowed Roman to escape the destruction his car experienced.
It appears the front tires and suspension which were ripped from the chassis enabled the spread of the Armco which allowed the cockpit to pass through the barrier intact thanks to the strength of the Halo device. If I recall from the video there was no part of the cockpit higher than the Halo remaining. Lastly and in my mind the final miracle was the 28 seconds in the fireball and the hot gasses. Was he able to hold his breath? Gas temps were not blue flame hot but certainly fatal hot had he inhaled them for that length of time.
When he appeared out of the flames on his own power we were witnessing a culmination of miracles, as in difficult to understand, but grateful for the result. Hopefully he will be able to share what he remembers with those who operate vehicles on the highways of the world. We face much less impact forces in accidents, but the experience dealing with the circumstances can be beneficial for everyone who drives.
The Nosecone parted the ARMCO row 2-3 (bottom & center) and the slope up to the HALO allowed the combined hardware is what mechanically saved Romain.
Race Cars are way safer than street Cars.

No, but I do now. Didn’t know he might have had a C-type Jaguar in his garage either. If the one in the pic is his. Follow mabarker’s link to Amazon for the pics.
