IS the company private?

If yes, they dictate to you what the uniform is. Business casual is a uniform of sorts. If they tell you now that you have to wear a dunce hat whenever you are clocked in, then that is what you have to wear or leave, quit, what have you. You are not entitled a paycheck for being an employee. You earn your paycheck for trading your productivity in a specific skill the company wants to utilize. Therefore you earn a paycheck. If you don’t like the policies or procedures of the company, then leave, quit, walk out. If you choose to stay, for whatever reason, you have no entitlement to beotch at a company or their change in policy. What you do on your time, well if you are on FB not quite, but on your time wear whatever you want. Of course all legal laws applies first and foremost. The mask laws are coming just wait for it since most EOs cannot be legal and constitutionally enforced by punishment as a consequence for not following an EO.

Call your doctor, then swing by his office to get a written note that you have anxiety disorder and are eligible for a first-wave vaccine as an at-risk individual. Also get a paper rx for xanax (whether you intend to fill it or not). Go thru a drive-in testing site - get the results. Bring copies of all to your employer’s HR dept for your file. Hand all directly to the HR manager, not the receptionist. The first comment from your boss, tell him/her your documents are on file with HR. Go on Cal-OSHA website and file a complaint for lack of accommodation/harassment for your medical condition. You can always drop the complaint later. Working for a private employer in CA you basically have no rights unless you are very proactive. So be very proactive. Also realize that those who make waves are usually axed within a year. Minimize your waves with the above medical paperwork.

Sounds like an irrational Karen submitted a written complaint to HR.
Your boss is now caught between an irrational mental case and demonstrating he has created a cohesive team.

The cowardly trouble makers are poison to the team

HIPPA. He is not entitled to know your medical conditions. He can’t ask you for a doctors note. It’s an invasion of privacy.

I am willing to testify that half of Free Republic users suffer anxiety and are paranoid about masks, if that will help.

And if you can do the job from home, they really should let you.

I also have anxiety with a mask (I was choked and smothered by some psycho a long time ago and think that has something to do with it). What I did was get some white tulle from the fabric shop and made my own. It’s a bit scratchy. You make them by folding them accordion like and then tape over the nds and staple a rubberband to each end through the tape. Lots of Youube videos on how to do it but it takes about one minute.

The tulle mask is a bit scratchy but I can breathe and because it’s white it almost looks like a real mask. No one has said anything when I wear that one.

I also made some out of fishnet with large holes, those are black, very comfortable and it was only recently that anyone said anything. Two people were in awe, one was a Karen at Staples who didn’t say anything but got a disgusted look on her face.

You’ve got to pick your battles. An employer who treats you like it appears yours does is not someone to fight. If you don’t want to get a note from your doctor (honestly they treat us like kindergarteners), what I might do is have it hanging from my ear and if he comes in, slip it over my face until he leaves, then take it off. You always want to act like it was just an oversight, you’d taken it off to speak with a customer as it’s hard to talk to people with the mask on, they can’t hear you.

I find when you push against something (your employer) it makes them push back harder. If you pretend to acquiesce, they pretend not to notice you’re not doing what they want.

There are drugs for anxiety that work very well....I take them and have for a long time. your doc should be able to help.

Lorazapam is one they give you when you go to the hospital. It takes you feel relaxed about things that might worry you.

Good luck.
