Then you would move basically at the speed of light.

Personally, I think the Infinite Improbability Drive is more interesting.

Ever since the introduction of the EmDrive concept in 2001, every few years a group claims to have measured a net force coming from its device. But these researchers are measuring an incredibly tiny effect: a force so small it couldn't even budge a piece of paper. This leads to significant statistical uncertainty and measurement error.

Maybe the floor isn't level.

I think these folks are moving in the wrong direction. Space travel would best be done by harnessing the power of unicorns.

From the article:
So that's what we have, nearly 20 years after the initial EmDrive proposal: a bunch of experiments that haven't really delivered, and no explanation (besides "let's just go ahead and break all of physics, violating every other experiment of the past 100 years") of how they could work.

So why is this even being considered or discussed?

Thrust? Vehicles? Really?

It’s SPACE-TIME manipulation that will get in touch with green, three-breasted babes.

There's no reason not to investigate this phenomenon. Far more vast quantities of public cash have been squandered on far more dodgy ideas. Take Dark Matter/Energy for instance. Billions and billions have been thrown away. and.... nothing.

I lost most of my respect for the science community when I started looking into the state of the theory, results and the vast quantities of cash thrown at these people for little return. Much of it is smoke and mirrors. But they've learned that if you use fancy terminology you can bamboozle politicians (who are for the most part morons) into throwing money around.

This is why they hate Trump. He can detect BS miles away.

The theory behind the EM Drive treats it as a way to tweak the conservation of momentum, not to violate or repeal it.

I have been investigating ideas like this for a long time to the point where I realize chemical rockets aren’t the answer for most space travel. As far as chemical rockets go, Spacex is the real deal and have maximized value for this type by making them reusable and reasonably economical. The nuclear thermal rocket we designed in the 50’s is the best I’ve seen so far. As an EE and space enthusiast, I have also looked into my own non-chemical rocket designs as a ‘hobby’and I may have designed something better. It’s all on paper only, so I will build and test to see. This would be something the govt. should have, but there is no way in hell I’d give it to them if this election is stolen.

If you can't even measure the effect, then how useful can it be?
Might as well get out and push.
Oh, wait. What kind of space rubber gets traction in vacuum.

There not powering it properly. Power should be provided via an E-cat system.

Em Drive is interesting, from what I hear everything is still inconclusive, with more evidence pointing to not.

Certainly once someone from earth has established a moonbase and maybe a mars outpost, then people will be in a better position to do experiments with all kinds of innovative drive ideas.
