Watched the entire video. Then searched YT for a version with written lyrics. This singer has a strange accent and mumbles through a great deal of the song. Hard to believe he was a recording artist.
That said, after I understood the song/video I found it to be quite a good tribute to the men lost in that tragedy.
Yeah, Gordon Lightfoot is a piker when it comes to singing.
You’ve never heard that song before?
The next video in the queue had one with lyrics. I agree the audio sucked. His regular release of the song is good.
That’s not the original recording, which is much cleaner and shows Lightfoot in better form. I think this one is from some years later. I do like what the youtuber did with this video.
For me, young Lightfoot can’t be beat — a wonderful voice and a brilliant songwriter. Another great one is “Canadian Railroad Trilogy.”
post #8 has a video with the lyrics
Just type the song title and “lyrics” into a search engine and they should pop up. I often hear part of a song and want the title, so type in some lyrics and the title and lyrics pop up.
Are you crazy? That song is a masterpiece — beautifully written and totally captures the tragedy.
I would listen to Gordon Lightfoot over any of the crap out there today. Amazing talent. How many artists sing, play their own instruments and write their own music out there today?
Gord’s Gold is one of his greatest hits albums, but doesn’t have “Wreck....” on it.
