Riding my bike to the parts store and buying .22 ammo so I could shoot.
Buying guns from magazines and having delivered straight to the house.

We had a place in FL. Dad would get a 12 of bud and mom would make a thing of screwdrivers. We rode in the back. No seatbelts. Once I rode half way in the open trailer. Too much wind had to get out.

Helmets are gay.

When I was 15 I got my own place in downtown Savannah. Still finished HS and then went to Georgia (Athens).

Kids today are weak.

We used to sled down the hill on the sidewalk in front of our houses, all of us kids. We would slide into the cross-street at the bottom. No one died from it, but thinking back, it probably wasn’t the smartest thing we all did.

We would climb onto the roof of the garage in the neighbor’s yard and just sit up there. My grandfather would come out, shake his fist at us, and tell us to get down. After he left, we would climb back up.

I had a great time with my chemistry set! We used to make black powder.

Many great memories, and a few scars. Climbing out on the WW2 tank gun barrel at the local park. Exploring the river bottoms solo. Mucking out a horse shed to make a playhouse. Building shelters with hay bales. Riding in the back of pickups and farm trucks. Harvesting potatoes on a combine that claimed a few fingers of workers. Skating on frozen ponds. Daredevil rides on snow saucers. Plucking and eating water cress right from the spring.

Body armor for riding bikes.
Brain chemistry-altering drugs for every misbehaving child instead of honest parental discipline.
Brainwashing children to become servants of the government.
Brainwashing children to believe they are always “awesome” can do no wrong, & create arrogant vapid adults.
Telling children to hate anyone who disagrees with their politics(hear me libs) & call them a Nazi.
Teach them to resent the only country that’s given them everything.

Takes a bit of out of childhood, no?

Oh yeah. I burned down my sisters playhouse with my chemistry set, just added more gas until it blew. That sorta ended my mad scientist days...until High School anyway.

Our equipment in the 50s and 60s was pretty big and raw, but nothing like the stuff in those pics! Those kids are getting really close to every kid's dream of doing a full 360 on the swing.

We sure have pussified today's kids, haven't we? Today's play equipment is pathetic. I'm surprised it isn't equipped with airbags to prevent guys like this from doing such stupid things as going down the slide head first and maybe hurting his tummy...

> Scraping the powder out of caps to make a big bang.

We found you could make a really big bang by hitting a whole roll of caps with a hammer. Then we found you could do a whole box of 5-6 rolls of caps by turning the hammer sideways. Man, THAT was loud! Probably not good for the hearing.
