So, I flew back from Idaho Falls to Cincinnati with a stop in Denver and enjoyed my first run in with lots of Karens in the airport and on the plane. At Denver, I never wore a mask and I was the ONLY person I saw not wearing one. It was amazing. On the plane, as we were being seated, I got harrassed by a couple for not wearing the "right" mask and was even turned in to the flight attendant, to whom I calmly showed my mask. The woman constantly looked back at me to see if I was wearing a mask during the flight. The comical part was that you are allowed to remove your mask as long as you are eating or drinking, which I did for virtually the entire flight. (I brought a bag of Costco peanuts for exactly that purpose) But it hit me after the flight that I have a perfect analogy for the world we live in today. It is the movie, "Invasion of the body snatchers".
Yet, you’re fine wearing a shirt and shoes to the store.

Think you found Karen here too.
You would appreciate this if you havent seen it...Kevin James

And that actress always reminded me of Karen Carpenter.
If a bureaucrat says that you and your family must wear burkas, will you comply?
Anyone who has bought into this mask mandate nonsense has shown their true colors. The types of masks being worn, the way they are being worn, and the entire narrative of what they are intended to accomplish is just laughable to those of us who relied on masks and PPE during our careers.
It truly is analogous to the “Cargo Cults” after WWII where islanders built life-size replicas of airplanes out of straw and cleared landing strips in the jungle hoping to bring back military personnel. The lack of understanding shown right here repeatedly by those citing statistics based on hopelessly corrupted data is every bit as ridiculous.
Think you found Karen here too.
I finally came up with this analogy: Wearing a mask is like wearing a cardboard seat belt.
But I’ve not had television since 1997. I PULL ALL OF MY NEWS, and from all over the world. Masks are pointless and an exercise in testing herd mentality.
I just did a drive with my VERY conservative friend, helping him return his moving truck from his new home in Idaho Springs back to Seattle, and then taking his last load via his pickup and trailer from Seattle to Idaho Springs. Now, he thinks this whole virus thing is just political, but here’s the thing: He gets almost all of his news from TV, including, FOX, of course. But this means he sees all of those mask PSA’s.
He wore his mask as religiously as any Karen. I mean he put it on before leaving the truck at gas stations, restaurants and hotels. I never wore a mask once and nobody said boo.
This actually troubled me a bit. It also showed the power of the repeated lie.
PERFECT! Nails it!
Me too!
Yep. You and I are coming from the same place on this. See my post just below yours.
WQhen people accost me I hand them a copy of warning that comes with the masks. It says NO Protection from Bacteria or viruses wering this mask.
That is awesome! If I planned on being out and about much more in places where I got hassled, I would definitely do that!
BTW, You’ve heard the phrase, “never apologize to the left. It just empowers them to attack further.” Well, it happened to me. I felt bad about calling the husband a karen at one point, prayed about it, and was compelled to apologize.
I tapped him on the shoulder and told him I was sorry I called him a Karen and I should not have let my emotions get the better of me (he and I were both on aisle seats). This empowered his wife to continue to argue and tell me that maybe I shouldn’t be on airplanes, etc. I told her that I have a hearing problem (I wear hearing aids when in a group) and depend on reading people’s lips to augment my ability to understand what they say (most people actually do this and don’t realize it). Anyway, I told her that and that I could not understand what she was saying since she was wearing a mask and just re-iterated that I should not have called her husband a Karen.
It completely neutralized it, other than her attempts to the end of the flight to discover new “evidence” against me. It was kinda comical, and yet sad. I am sad for our country right now.
Yup. They're EVERYWHERE!
Absolutely!
When we were transporting people with highly contagious and dangerous respiratory ailments in the back of cramped rescue units... it made sense to wear a mask, goggles and gown, and put something on their face as well. Our masks were fit tested and we had training on how to use them properly. And we sprayed down the entire rescue unit with disinfectant after the transport.
But what we have these days are people wearing homemade masks, dust masks, “copper infused” masks, bandannas, woven ski masks, and various other varieties that are completely useless and actually provide bacteria and viruses handy enclaves to reproduce and make people more likely to get sick than if they were wearing nothing at all. And you also have people who are sick who feel like they can interact with everyone safely because they are wearing some sort of covering on their face.
The entire situation is so ridiculous that it boggles the mind.
or “They Live”...
put on the glasses...
This face diaper fraud has driven many otherwise normal people right over the edge. And the insanity abounds for participants on both sides of the issue. I will not wear a mask and consequently have withdrawn from a lot of activities (which is OK since most normal activities have been banned by the gestapo).
What fills me with much trepidation is the effect this crap is having on kids. Exposure to degenerate leftist propaganda was bad enough on its own!
If anyone thinks masks are a test of the limits of the public’s tolerance of govt control, think again. All the govt has to do is convince the people who own and operate businesses, and who are intimidated by the demands of insurance and the specter of liability.
When I must shop, I must wear a mask or they’ll eject me. So I put it on. But I shop as seldom as possible.
