Some people are talking about an October surprise going to be pulled against POTUS either Sunday night or Monday. Have you heard anything?

That's not how the real property tax system works in New York. The local tax assessor, who is a public officer, determines the value of the real property for tax purposes in the first instance. The owner of the real property has no say in this initial determination. Once the assessment rolls for the municipality are released, the owner can file a tax grievance alleging that the properties are over-assessed. The grievance is then determined by the Board of Assessment Review. In most cases, the initial assessment is affirmed. The owner then has a very short time to commence a legal action challenging the assessment in the court system. The owner has the burden of proof and must submit a certified appraisal to the court from a qualified independent appraiser. For commercial properties, the appraisal report will include three methods of determining value: Comparative sales of similar properties; the cost of reconstructing the improvement on the property less depreciation, and the capitated income the that property generates based upon the present value of a future stream of income. The burden then shifts to the taxing authority, who must also submit a certified appraisal using the three methods of valuation.
Other than bribery, the only way for a landowner to cheat the system is to provide false information to the appraiser with respect to the income that the real property generates, but that is highly unlikely given the independence of the appraiser and the red flags that would go up if the assessed value based on capitalized income is significantly different than the assessed value based on comparative sales and reproduction costs. To cheat on his real property taxes, Trump would have to fool the assessor, board of assessment review, two independent appraisers, and the trial judge.

Yes there were rumors on conspiracy sites that a damaging but fake story about Trump would be run by 2 news sources as a last minute effort to damage the President

If this were something like an arrest, Bill O’Reilly would have not singled out the NYT and WaPo. It would be over all newspapers. I think it is speculation. More or less “you know they’re going to pull something to dominate the news Monday and Tuesday.

It doesn’t sound that they know anything specifically forthcoming rather, “just as the sun rises from he east, you know the NYSlimes and WaComPost is going to drop an anti-Trump story on Sunday.”
There have been such reports. Given the level of persuasion needed to move those voters, I doubt one last minute vapid claim will send them back.
Anyway, who would care? I lived through a couple of Trump’s sensational divorces in NY, and the thing that always puzzled me is why he didn’t marry somebody nice. I think he finally did, with Melania, but the other women were basically just gold diggers. However, they eventually ended up on amicable terms, more or less.
Trump was never accepted in New York society except as a wealthy man who might be a donor, no matter how much he did for NYC, and I never knew exactly why. I grew up there - on the Upper West Side, no less - and Trump was a presence. He’s from Queens, as are many people who work in or run businesses in Manhattan, but he was very committed to the city and did a huge amount of good for it.
Once upon a time NYC loved colorful characters and flash, but then liberalism took over and now it’s all about how PC you can be.
I’m sure the media will thoroughly verify it before reporting on it, Twitter and Facebook will censor it.

Thank you for the explanation. I agree from what you said that this is probably not what any suit would be. The only other thing would be using a different value on loan applications. But that would be subject to the banks appraiser agreeing to the value Trump assigned to any property he wanted to use as collateral.
This all leads me to believe the NY AG is not going to be the source of any surprise, at least in this area.
At this point it would probably be a tape of him saying something derogatory of a minority group or gays, but I would be almost certain it would be a doctored audio of him. As for your first point if that had occurred the Democrats would of released those tapes back in 2016. Trump himself is very careful of his public image, and he would of never run for president if he had engaged in that kind of activity and there was evidence of it. I say it’s another false allegation and a desperate late hour one at that!

2 days before the election, when everyone else has already voted LOL a waste of time..trust me if they had something on Trump they would have released it two weeks ago when it mattered..everyone has voted no one cares anymore
If they had a tape of Trump saying something bad about a minority group they would have released it weeks ago BEFORE people voted..the majority of the country has already voted, 2 days before the election would be a total waste of time
