I’m remembering reading about the Middle Eastern soldiers - who would run off. They said that is what a “normal” person would do. They were amazed that Americans were so crazy that they stayed and fought.
It was that story about the two guys that had just started guard duty and they saved a lot of lives, but lost their own, because they didn’t run.
