Long ago, there were halflings on a long and tortuous quest. Here is described a moment in time during that journey:
Sam busied himself with his pans. “What a hobbit needs with coney,” he said to himself, “is some herbs and roots, especially taters. Herbs we can manage, seemingly.”
Now in those days, a 'coney' was rabbit.
Flash forward well beyond the fourth age.
Then came a woman bearing the name Coney. And she was, as they say in the parlance of that time, white.
White rabbit.
