OK. It’ll look “wrong” on the dolly because these days most cars are front wheel drive and so they get towed on a dolly going forwards. Your Tracker is going to be on the dolly backwards.
One reason is so you can throw the transmission in 2nd gear and set the parking brake and that will augment the straps that anchor the wheels to the dolly, keeping your vehicle secured to it.
The other reason is so you can put your transfer case in Neutral (2WD) to unlock your whole front driveline, and let it free wheel.
The technicality in all this is making sure your steering stays straight the whole way down the road. You don’t want to use the column lock to do that, because that can mess up your column lock. So you put the key in the ignition, turn it to the first position where the steering wheel is unlocked, and then tie the steering wheel in position to keep the wheels straight.
