BURLINGTON, Wis. —

The organizers of a recall petition against Gov. Tony Evers said they’ve gathered enough signatures to force an election.

They needed nearly 670,000 and said they reached that figure over the weekend.

Now, they’re shooting for 1 million, so they will have a cushion.

As she watched the unrest in Kenosha amid the pandemic, Burlington’s Misty Polewczynski said she decided enough is enough.

“The final straw would’ve been the inaction in Kenosha. (It) cost people their lives, their homes, their businesses, things they worked their entire lives for,” Polewczynski said.

She launched an online drive to recall Evers that spurred signature events across the state.
