I don’t think he actually lost physical control of his laptop until the NYPD took it from him.

The NYPD never had the laptop. They may have had access to it via the DOJ warrant but they themselves never had the laptop.

Weiner turned in his devices including his laptop to Granite Intelligence LLC on September 23, 2016. The FEDS got these devices from Granite via 09/26/2016 search & seizure warrant.

That’s what I remember too.

However, the first story was that the police took the lap top when they arrested Weiner for his texting and referred it to the FBI.

And that the NYPD was going to have a press conference unless, the FBI did something about it. Then Comey came out and said we are investigating more e-mails, and then he absolved HRC a few days later.

The info about Granite came out later IIRC.

I don’t recall why it was @ Granite though.
