Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos has voiced shock that a censorship debate has sprung up around the controversial Cuties film after a Texas grand jury indicted the streamer over the feature.
In comments at the virtual Mipcom market on Monday, Sarandos said Cuties was misunderstood in America after the indictment claimed it “appeals to the prurient interest in sex, and has no serious, literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.”
Defending the Maïmouna Doucouré-directed feature, which focuses on an 11-year-old Senegalese-French girl, who is torn between her traditional Muslim family and her dance troupe friends, Sarandos said: “It’s a little surprising in 2020 America that we’re having a discussion about censoring storytelling.”
He added: “It’s a film that is very misunderstood with some audiences, uniquely within the United States. The film speaks for itself. It’s a very personal coming of age film, it’s the director’s story and the film has obviously played very well at Sundance without any of this controversy and played in theatres throughout Europe without any of this controversy.”
He also made clear that Netflix did not attempt to make any changes to Cuties’ content before its premiere in September. Sarandos was not pressed, however, on Netflix’s marketing of the show, which the streamer retracted and apologized for after critics claimed that artwork of the dance troupe sexualized children.
I’ve been a two-at-a-time DVD rental customer of Netflix since 2006. They are an outstanding company for that.
I don’t watch TV and thus don’t have a use for the streaming service. Nevertheless I have become increasingly distraught at Netflix’s climbing in bed with the Nobamas, etc. Cuties is the final straw. If I was a Netflix streamer, that service would be cancelled immediately. Sarandos can make all the excuses he wants; exploiting eleven year olds does not belong on TV.
He’s surprised because the Left had assumed they have already destroyed all sexual standards in society as a whole, and in broadcasting in particular.

This would be an opportunity for a strategic intervention by some astute conservative groups. Let them begin by buying stock. There's no limit to how many can play, but it would be smart to do some serious thinking about branding and the choice of the spokesperson to become the face of the resistance. Come to think of it, someone like Amy Coney Barrett would be absolutely perfect. Unfortunately she's going to be too busy to take it on. Oh well, I imagine we could come up with some good alternatives. The first objective would be replacement of the current management team. The second objective, pursued concurrently, would be election of decency minded candidates to board positions. The major institutional investors who control most of the stock should be under intense, all-fronts pressure to vote appropriately. Attack this the way the left pressures corporate America on its issues.
Pedophiles have always argued that in these cases it is only fantasy or storytelling. Only this time real children were used.
A youtuber by the Name of Tim Poole pointed out that the same story could of been told with out exposing the children in this film to the same abuse that the director/writer claims that it is criticizing....there was no need to showing the twerking, there was no need zeroing in on the children’s gentile area while filming. the whole story could of been told with out using the garbage they put in. This movie was more about normalizing the acceptance of it within society...the criticism the director claims the movie to be was more about giving cover. this film will for ever referd to as a film made by adults exploiting children and was filmed for an audience of the type that excepts Pretty baby or blue lagoon.
Ted is sympathetic to those groups who like to think of themselves as enlightened about deviant sexuality, and are pushing for a major relaxing of laws concerning pedophilia.
Cancel Netflix. I did. It felt really good. Plenty of other things to watch. Their content is morally depraved.

What is not surprising is that this piece of excrement can’t tell the difference between storytelling and pedophilia........nah, I am sure he can and this filth was made to tell a story to a select audience of pedophiles.
