Pretty much. What constitutes everything in nature is different if you observe it.
So, something that isn’t “alive” or “aware” behaves somehow...

Well since you mentioned it . . there are some who think the universe is conscious. We are all connected (string theory?). And if I remember correctly information (just like matter) cannot be destroyed with out violating some quantum law. So if a person dies does his/her memory get stored somewhere in the Big Universe Library?
