Were does it indicate that it was carved? Bronze statues are normally sculpted in clay then cast in bronze from a mold taken off the clay.

If you want to get really picky, the author does not state that the statue was carved from bronze. The article says the statue was carved, and that the material its made of is bronze. Which if the original pattern was carved from beeswax, which is likely, then that thats true. However it would have been better had the author chosen cast instead of carved since no doubt thats how the final figure was produced.
