One of the most important aspects of controlling the spread of COVID-19 is making sure that anyone who has been infected remains quarantined from others until the virus runs its course and is no longer able to pass it to others. Since the start of the pandemic, researchers have been attempting to pinpoint exactly how long individuals remain infectious after their first symptoms appear to identify when they can safely return to their work, family, and lives without worry of infecting others. Initially, the CDC relied on coronavirus testing to determine whether the virus was still infectious. However, new research has inspired the governmental health organization to change their

Symptoms, Not Testing, Should Be the Gauge They explain that symptomsnot testingshould be used to gauge how infectious an individual is, so that a person is "not kept unnecessarily isolated and excluded from work or other responsibilities."

Probably half or better of the people in this country have the virus and don’t even know it.
I hope that’s the case for most people. I only know of five that had it and it was rough on three of them, the other two like a mild bout of a usual bug. The three that had it rough, one was hospitalized and the other was at home in the bed for 10 days.
Forgot to say the third felt lousey but was only down for a couple of days.

Then why do only 6% or so show antibodies?

Keep in mind that people with severe COVID-19primarily those who end up in the hospitalmay be infectious for much longer, even as many as 20 days. However, the CDC does point out that the majority of severe COVID-19 patients over 88 percent were no longer infectious after 10 days and 95 percent could not infect others by the 20 days mark.So one out of twenty with a severe case of COVID are still infectious after 20 days? That seems like a lot. If you get really sick, it sounds like you should quarantine thirty days and come up with a couple of negative tests.
CDC site:
When to start and end quarantine
You should stay home for 14 days after your last contact with a person who has COVID-19.

If you are really sick get your butt to the hospital.
It’s almost like the tests don’t work.
Yes I know. I listed the date. Still the guideline.
For patients with COVID-19 or other respiratory infections, evaluate need for hospitalization. If hospitalization is not medically necessary, home care is preferable if the individuals situation allow.

Had a cough, so I got the test. Came back negative. Still have cough, so had allergy test. Results coming back Monday. I suspect it’s the cat. She’s staying, will take pills or shots.
HORRORS!!!!
I had it from middle to late March. Very dry nose, ankle/foot edema, lazy/tired feeling. Another person in the house had classic headache, loss of taste smell, etc. in the same period.
I will fight/vote for laws to prevent general shutdowns in the future.
That was my first thought
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - New guidelines from the CDC say you don’t need a negative COVID-19 test to leave the hospital or go back to work.
All you need to do is isolate for 10 days or stay in the hospital for that amount of time because the CDC says that is when you are no longer contagious.
I’ll let you know when I finish med school.
