WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Latest on President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump testing positive for the coronavirus (all times EDT):

Joe Biden’s campaign is taking down its attack ads in the wake of President Donald Trump’s coronavirus infection.

That’s according to a Biden campaign official who spoke on the condition of anonymity on Friday to discuss internal planning.

Just the "negative" ads will be stopped...Let's what really happens...

I never thought about whether Biden should stop running his negative ads against President...Election will go on as scheduled...I am not sure if Biden really has to stop running some TV ads...President is in the hospital...But, he is still running for re-election...

Maybe this is a money saving idea.

As I wrote elsewhere, I truthfully believe we will be greeted over the next few days, to a relentless Tweetstorm from Trump's hospital bed. This will not only prove he is ok but puts his campaign more on the offensive than if he was on the road.

In turn, he will suck up all the oxygen in the media and leave Uncle Creepy in the dust

Interesting, so the Democrats believe that the virus that they somehow seeded at the Amy Coney Barrett nomination ceremony now is causing people to see President Trump in a more sympathetic light. This is undoing years of their work villainizing the president.

There are PACs still running negative ads on his behalf, so he can say he’s not running them himself.

The thing about stuff like this is if the Democrats push it, they will lose in a landslide. As it is they have already lost the election. People in the middle who mildly disliked Trump will stay home or vote for him. People who support him somewhat but thought voting is a waste of time will show up at the polls just to register their sympathy. And rabid right-wingers who occasionally find other ways to occupy their time on election day will *all* show up at the polls. That will make a huge difference in close races up and down the ballot.

After Reagan got shot, he won 49 states, despite having presided over the deepest recession since the Great Depression, a recession the country was just getting out of at the time of the election. That’s why the people at Democratic Underground are freaking out. Joe Biden’s campaign is in deep doo doo.

The hermit stocks (Netflix, Facebook, Amazon, Twitter) went down big today. Mall stocks went up. My guess is traders are thinking Trump will win and win big. Which means a reopening of the economy.

negative ads would not be effective at this time and could backfire. that’s the only reason.

But, there is nothing the Biden campaign can do about all the hate and death wishes his base is spewing toward Trump.

This is evidence, however, that it knows that all that hate will hurt his campaign.
