That’s a good point. Trump knows Biden is rude and would have interrupted him to no end if had allowed him to do so (remember Paul Ryan?), so he flipped the script on him and got in his face early. I don’t know how much Biden was flustered by it, but if forced Biden to play the “Geez, will this guy stop interrupting me?” routine, and forced Biden to try to pretend to be “the calm one”.
He still interrupted Trump, but not as much as I think he had originally planned. His handlers got him all juiced up on meds, and he was ready to try to bully POTUS. When they came to the podium Biden was flippant and disrespectful. He made a rude comment like “How you doing man?” or something like that. Trump had a stern look on his face and responded stoically. So I think you’re right that Trump decided to shut the disrespect down by putting Biden on the defensive. That tactic might have prevented Trump from being a little more eloquent in some of his answers, but it was probably better than the alternative.
He’s fighting in hostile territory.
It can’t be easy.
Could this be some type of slow release medication system? Seems very odd.
