I agree.
Hearing aids are distracting for folks with dementiain its early stages.
I cannot imagine someone more than a little down that road trying to follow a voice in their head.
They would stop, and concentrate. It would be obvious to every person watching.

From what I’ve seen among friends and family, they’re distracting in the elderly even with a 100% functioning brain.
Mom is 96, and can tell you word-for-word parts of Hannity’s book, who was on what Fox show on what day, etc. But when there’s a conversation and she’s wearing her hearing aid, it flummoxes her.
