The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Yep I got it, mainly by small words and common letter combinations.
I doubt that I have eaten more than 10 of those in my lifetime, including the microwave incarnation.
I was stuck, too, but one thing that works occasionally, and did this time, is to see if some long word ends in -TION. That’s my initial break into about one in twenty puzzles and it worked this time.
Yes. With longer words, they are usually nouns and often end ion . Common letter combinations helped me solve this.

I looked her up on Wikipedia. She died at 42, in Mexico in an “accidental” drowning, after an argument with her boyfriend. Wikipedia has “accidental” in quotes. Shades of Natalie Wood.
I found today’s CG more difficult for me than most. I started out with incorrect guess for first 2 words. I think I qualified as borderline Good.
Nice one. Was stuck until I started with the third word.
