When I was a little girl, it was a silly game you played with the buttons on your coat, sweater, etc. We would whom the girl would marry and then assign each of the above one of the buttons. So if I had 4 buttons it was “thief”, 5 buttons it was “doctor”, etc.

Then, we asked what we will be married in. The choices, determined the same way, were silk, satin, calico, rags.

Thirty years ago today I married a man wearing a kilt, he had lots of buttons - LOL.
