Just spitballing here.... Why couldn’t POTUS nominate Cruz for SCOTUS, have Cruz serve until any time before 2024, then resign so POTUS can nominate someone younger who would be on the court for a longer time?

Cruz should never be on SCOTUS. He ran for president knowing he was not a NBC. If any case comes up about natural born citizenship and the presidency, he will vote the wrong way to cover what he did.
