My guess:
I’m not seeing a clear route for Biden to be replaced before the debate. (But this is 2020. Anything could happen!)
What I *think* I’m seeing is that the Trump/Q team is “softening the target” in preparation for the debate. Every story like this that comes out before the debate is another blow to Biden. Biden was already the worst candidate in history, barely limping along. By the time POTUS debates him next week, he’ll be on life support.
Will Tuesday’s debate be the death blow? Or will Biden (and the Ds/libs) go through the torture of two more debates?
In addition, this will force the Biden team to spend a lot of time figuring out how to answer questions about the new issues raised. Even with a moderator pitching softballs, POTUS will surely be on the attack. And can Biden afford to just ignore those attacks? I don’t think so.
Of course there’s always the wild card of Biden (his handlers) coming up with some excuse to cancel the debate. Covid? I don’t see how cancelling/avoiding the debate could possibly help Biden. I believe that most people will see it as yet another weakness. IMO the only thing it would accomplish is for a dying candidate to lick his mortal wounds for a bit longer instead of dying immediately.
All JMO.
