For some reason Baric discontinued the collaboration on gain-of-function BUT Dr. Fauci (yes, that Dr. Fauci) reinstated USGvt funding for the Wuhan lab research. One wonders what made Prof. Baric withdraw his collaboration with gain-of-function research with Dr. Zhengli.
This Li-Meng article notes that "the animal reservoir could not be bats because the ACE2 proteins in bats are not homologous enough to hACE2 (human ACE2)." I have been citing my early source that bats do not have or utilize the ACE2 enzyme. One of these two sources is incorrect or I ran off the rails along the line. 😯 Still, it questions 'wet market' bats as a source for CoViD-19.
