Baker Mayfield planned to make a stand. Instead, hell stand.
After watching the Chiefs and Texans receive backlash from the Kansas City crowd for their show of unity prior to Thursdays game, Mayfield has decided he will stand for the national anthem before Sundays game against the Ravens after the Browns quarterback previously said he would absolutely kneel during the song. Mayfield is a member of the teams 11-player social justice committee.
After reading many letters and messages
I have been showed [sic] that a gesture such as kneeling will only create more division or discussion about the gesture, rather than be a solution towards our countrys problem at hand, Mayfield wrote Saturday on Twitter.

“the teams 11-player social justice committee.”
aka, “The Brain Trust”.
Yes, actually, it is. That's a problem here, because "It's not about you" is really saying "We've decided it's more important than you." You don't really get to have it both ways.
“Too late.”
It was too late when he decided to QB for the Clowns.
NFL — you’re dead to me.
NBA — LeBron’s mouth made you dead to me.
Baseball — Keep dipping your tow into the manure and find out!
They probably get it both ways. They could be dropped from your team or sponsorships if they don’t go along with the stuff.
We junior high punks talked only about Ray Nitschke’s antics in bars. Something about chasing a woman around a pool table I won’t go into the details.
On the field they were “a bunch of toothless hairless old men” but boy did they win games.
Oh, forgot to add, it was at that Boy Scout dinner I personally heard Vince Lombardi say, “winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.”
He can buff his bishop all over a flag at midfield for all I care. I won’t be watching, or caring.
Better late than never.
“I could picture the likes of Vince Lombardi or Parcells putting up with that BS.”
Or Mike Ditka!
He may have cracked some skulls.

No wonder your handle is “elcid”, you have been around a while. LOL
Great story BTW.
IMHO, “better late than never does not apply here.” He choose his stance without reflecting on it, basically a knee-jerk reaction and then when he realized it may hurt him financially or hurt his popularity, he changed his tune.
