This is true.
I have two Twitter accounts, a primary one and a backup. Both created from throwaway yahoo email accounts under fake nondescript Anglo-Saxon male names. The avatars are computer generated faces of middle-aged white guys. My phone number isn’t attached to the accounts.
I’m sure a highly motivated sleuth could probably connect the accounts to me as there is no anonymity on the internet but nonetheless I do what I can to protect my identity.
Twitter is an absolute cesspool and at the same time, one of the most important sites on the internet, instrumental in documenting in real time the leftist violence that has taken over our cities.
Very very few substantial and meaningful tweets are actually removed.
I have no social media accounts (well, pinterest for corgis, gardens and odd stuff;) but I’m an avid USER of Twitter. I check about 20 accounts regularly and always use search for breaking news or interesting stuff. I read lots of threads but only rarely have I wanted to post - but not enough to join!
I may do it sometime, but hell, I lurked on FR for 4 years before I signed up 16 years ago.
Great idea though- good for freepers to have contact out there. Twitter has also been an invaluable resource for people in emergencies- hurricanes, fires, tornados terrorist attacks etc.
For the present, I’ll probably just be watching or posting innocuous comments...

Me too. I’m still using a 2006 flip-phone and 2009 HP commercial-industrial desktop.
I just don’t how all that stuff works...

I guess you mean tweets that you put out there. My sister has hers removed often when they’re pithy and professional — if they go against the lib narrative re Covid, etc.
