How crazy is it that fathers (especially in black families) not in the home is the number one issue destroying this country and it’s never talked about by either party? Many years ago I worked at a state juvenile prison (called a ‘youth center’. Had two kids who murdered at 13. Due to the laws at the time, they could not be held after their 18th birthdays. The day they turned 18 they were released with spotless records.
If you remember the case in Arkansas where two 13-year-olds shot up their school, killing several. Same thing happened, when they reached adulthood, they were released. The state gave them new identities and clean records. I mention this because one ended up living within 10 miles of me. Applied for a concealed carry permit. But somehow, even though it wasn’t supposed to know, the local sheriff’s office did know who the kid was and what he had done and worked to deny the permit. All this came out when he died in a car wreck last year.
New York laws, of course will apply. But most states don’t send 13-year-olds away for life no matter what they did.
Turn them into young ladies.
I’m sure they were white kids, right?

But then again, in our times, I bet junk food, violent video games + too much sugar, no dads and reality tv, multiple pharmaceuticals prescription and not since childhood, along with repeated lyrics from any of several genres of music together with too much free time will cause that, too.

My grandmother had been robbed on two separate occasions walking down her block near Midway Airport in Chicago. She was two or three blocks away from a 7-11, and that was when she hadn’t needed a walker, so that must have been almost 25 years ago.
Both times, several years apart, it was a black pre-teen or young teen that would grab her purse. The second time, she technically wasn’t robbed because the kid gave up. She had her purse wrapped around herself, so he wound up dragging her several feet before deciding that the goods weren’t worth it. She was a bit beaten up from being dragged, but nothing too serious.
I was furious. My little Polish gran couldn’t even walk two blocks safely. If she was alive today, she’d be disgusted. So would grandpa.
I think the oddest things about this attack on our culture this Summer of Hell.
I think about the old white people who have been attacked. Those above 80.
I think of my mom. And how sad it must be that these old people are the last vestiges of a truly great civilization. Being attacked by the malcontent miscreants of the later counter-culture recolution. It depresses me to think of how they must compare this to their coming of age days, before the floor fell out in the ‘60s.
Even the other day mom was talking again about how she could go all the way downtown Baltimore by herself as a child, and everyone was kind and not threatening, indeed people watched out for others.
Now it’s about the opposite.
They are not adults. They should not be charged with anything because they don’t understand what they are doing and cannot decide things for themselves.
They are children.
