If this is their first arrest there’s every chance they’ll be given PTI, Pre Trial Intervention which means it’ll will more than likely not go to court but they’ll pay a fine and be given six months of probation.
After a period of time the offense will be expunged or the charges at most will be bumped down to misdemeanors.
