When I was 8 my father was struck by lightning in our horse barn. He had polio as a child so had a metal brace on his leg. It killed him. I was standing next to him so I got picked up and thrown across the barn. I dont remember much but got up and new my dad was dead. A few of the horses died. My mom saved hers but its back was on fire. So needless to say Im still scared of lightning storms.

Good grief! Talk about double indemnity! So sorry, most especially you being a child.

My cousin was killed talking on the phone to my Aunt who lived a quarter mile away in the country during an electrical storm. Scary stuff.
