I read at the very beginning of this that most of the people who died already had less than a 1-yr life expectancy. That is, they had all sorts of health problems, and even among the elderly, a lot of them were already bed-ridden, dying of COPD or congestive heart failure, etc. and wouldn’t have survived the year even without the virus.

My next door neighbor´s mother was 95 and bedridden, on every drug in the universe for her heart, kidneys, etc. (as well as having dementia), and she got the virus...and survived. She lived for another couple of months and has just died, as had been expected for some time. I’m sure she’s recorded as COVID-19.

In England she would have counted as a Covid19 death. In Germany, on the other hand, you are not counted as a Covid19 death unless that is the primary cause.

Medicare and Medicaid pays the hospital extra money if the person dies from Covid19. Well, you get more of what you subsidize.
