Emancipation, I am assuming in this sense, means that she is free from parental control.

She needs to be careful what she wishes for. Mommy and Daddy probably pay for her cellphone, expensive sneakers and nail polish.

It means a judge declares her officially an adult.

Yes no parental oversight and no parental obligations.

The unfortunate sad part is that if she started a GoFundMe claiming she needed assistance ridding herself of her conservative parents, she would be upwards a 250k+ in a few hours.

That is exactly what it is. I know of two people who did it. The one I am close to did it because her parents wouldn’t pay college tuition. She wanted to e a teacher. By getting emancipation, she would be pell eligible. By the time she petitioned her parents had thrown her out and that was part of the case. She had to prove she was taking nothing from her parents and there was no support from them.

The sound I read about in an autobiography. Guy enrolled himself in the local state school. Dad, with whom he had no relationship, listed him as a dependent in another state. That made him a resident of dad’s state and ineligible for in state tuition. He sued for emancipation and was able to work at the job he had and go to the state school.

There’s a theme here....Good luck with that case, Claudia.

Excuse the typos. iPads typing requires more caffeine.

I’m sure Ghislane Maxwell would be more than happy to help her out financially by getting her some odd jobs.

I had a boss whose son was incorrigible, and causing physical and emotional harm to the family members and family structure. Robbing neighbors’ houses was another thing. Dad emancipated him when he was 14. The kid wanted it, too.

I lost track decades ago, so don’t know if he turned his life around.
