Washington D.C., Aug 14, 2020 / 03:49 pm MT (CNA) - More than 100 Democratic politicians have sent a letter to the party’s Platform Committee, calling for changes in the platform to accept pro-life Democrats and assure them that their view will be respected.
“In the U.S., pro-life Democrats have been a critical part of the coalition to expand voting rights, improve health care, and pass criminal justice reform,” the letter said. “These accomplishments would not have been possible if the Democratic Party had in place a litmus test on abortion.”

Dated August 14, the letter was signed by 105 elected Democratic politicians, both current and retired. Signatories include local officials and state legislators, as well as nine members of Congress and three governors.
Among the signatories were Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards, who signed a “heartbeat bill” into law earlier in 2019, and U.S. Senator Katrina Jackson, who authored the Louisiana law on abortion clinic admitting privileges that the Supreme Court struck down earlier this year.
Another signatory was U.S. Senator Mike Gabbard of Hawaii, father of U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard, whose support for limiting abortion in the third trimester put her in stark contrast with most of the other candidates vying for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.
According to Democrats for Life of America, dozens of additional politicians said they quietly supported the letter but feared the repercussions of signing it.
The letter’s signers said they worried about a type of pro-abortion litmus test that has been created within the Democratic Party.
They suggested that pro-abortion language within the party’s platform is radical and out-of-touch with the views of Americans.

There is no such thing as a pro-life democrat.
These people are hypocrites. They put the democrat party first in their loyalties, ahead of God, country, church, even family.
If they are truly pro-life, they would have quit the democrat party long ago. Too many of them are in political office, where they boast of their “Catholicism” while committing and supporting every sin and sinner around if they wear the democrat label.
Biden, Pelosi, et ilk have through their funding and advocacy have killed millions of babies, including half of all black babies, yet they have the chutzpah to walk around with ashes on their foreheads every Ash Wednesday, and receive Communion in their sinful states.
Just as bad are the Catholic bishops and priests who support them and then sermonize the rest of us every Sunday about how we should get OUR act together.
Since there is no such thing as a pro-life Democrat, their votes for Democrats are a cooperation in evil and illicit. They are directly contributing to the murders of the unborn while claiming to do so is evil. They are putting themselves at severe spiritual risk. Do they understand that?

Correct English requires the sentence read “Democrat” politicians. Republicans are democratic politicians too.
The Democrat party booed God at their convention.

People such as his relatives, are often old school Democrats, who think of the party of JFK or Hubert Humphrey when they vote Democrat today. They aren’t thinking about the radicalism of Ocasio-Cortez or idiots such as Ilian Omar in today’s Democrat party.
This is rich! Considering how the left has smugly told us G-D is dead and Jesus is an imaginary friend. Except when they’re needed to fit their agendas.

That’s very true. My husband was one of those, until he converted to conservatism. His eyes were opened when he got tired of NPR always siding with the Palestinians, and started listening to conservative talk radio, instead. A lot of the old time democrats either don’t bother listening to the news, or still listen to NBC, ABC, or CBS, who don’t give the radical dems as much airtime as msnbc or cnn do.
However, that said, I'm glad they asked for that!
However, they'll be laughed at by the DNC and they'll do the same thing vote Biden.
I know someone very conservative and pro-life who is registered as a Democrat and runs for office so that Democrats will have a pro-life candidate.
The term sucking wind comes to mind. They know they are in deep doo doo and need a way to get reasonable people to vote for the Joe and Hoe ticket.
This absolutely goes nowhere with today’s democratic party.
In fact they are going the other way, they’re killing babies after they’re born.
They are reading the polls and figuring out that they are loosing traditional voting blocks, like union members, blacks, Hispanics, the elderly and the poor with their radical and violence prone stance.
Yes, the Democrats need more votes. Their You Tube ads are increasingly desperate.
There is no such thing as a pro-life democrat. All democrats are pro-death.
