I got rid of my Android phone because Google.
I got an iPhone. Most things on it are not on the cloud except iTunes and iCloud, which I don’t use. I also have location turned off unless I need it.

#629 if any cell phone has network signal you are being tracked. Like it or not. Every time your phone pings a tower it’s saying hey dude, I’m right here. If more than one tower can be pinged they can triangulate to within well drone target area ;) all logged and stored nicely for big brother to later snoop. Regardless of what your phone settings are.
Phone location settings generally just tell the apps running on phone to use cell tower or GPS to provide location to end user. Like Google maps
Good endorsement to have! (you were right about W10!) Just checked, my 32 year old daughter has an Iphone. I suppose I should have a phone to take calls from Lifelock. I get google fiber solicitations in the mail 1x a week. Other than that, I really don’t need another phone.
So..do we have a pool going for the next Durham indictment?
