US country music star Dolly Parton has come out in support of Black Lives Matter, in a rare comment on politics.
She told Billboard Magazine: "Do we think our little white asses are the only ones that matter? No!"
With a broad fan base that spans the right and the left, the singer generally eschews political subjects.
Her comments come amid a nationwide reckoning on race that has impacted all of US society, including country music.
Although Ms Parton has not attended Black Lives Matter marches, she said she supported anti-racism activists' right to protest.

Parton is no conservative...
But, she has not said anything negative about President Trump...Yet...
I like Dolly Parton. I think it is a no win question to ask do black lives matter the obvious answer is yes you do.
But I do not believe Dolly Parton is fine with people burning down police stations and the like. Dolly worked for everything she has so I doubt she aligns with free loaders and thugs.
Clever one Dolly. No reasonable person disagrees with that statement. Funny how the BBC spins it as a tacit endorsement of BLM,Inc. Which it was not. Dolly knows who pays the bills.
Hey
Dolly, do all lives matter, even the lives of the law enforcement officers of our nation.
This is a direct question.
Shes always played it down the middle..
Those are not brains, Dolly. Get some.
She is a diplomatic business person who tries to get along with everyone.
She could have come back with BLM then said but all lives matter!!!
What of her dropping “Dixie” from “Dixie Stampede”? She said that the term “Dixie” was somehow “offensive”.
Those days of straddling the fence are gone. The mob will tear her to bits as readily as the mobs in Julius Caesar’s day did to Helvius Cinna even though he wasn’t Lucius Cornelius Cinna Jr. (the latter a supposed conspirator in Caesar’s assassination).
So we’re supposed to get upset over Dolly’s statements- that the media manipulates?
Heck, she still has a great rack- so her opinions are important LOL!
In the current climate, making even the most-innocuous statement about "Black Lives" aligns you - in the minds of many people - with either 1) rioting thugs or 2) Trump-supporters. The dichotomy is absolute. The more differentiated and nuanced your statement, the more people you will alienate (meaning: the BLM activists will sense that you aren't fully on their side - i.e., you are the ENEMY - while at the same time rational people will perceive you as naïve and/or weak).
Regards,
But she chose not to, thus alienating a lot of her fan base (especially the more-thoughtful ones).
Regards,
Dolly, you have a few problems with this response. Two of them, big ones....
Dolly: BLM is an avowed Marxist organization, anti-US, anti-capitalism, anti-white (including you).
Don’t be a dupe of the Left.
Yall gonna get riled about a big set of tits thats says of course black lives matter? In her 80s no less. Grow up idiots. All lives matter. Especially those in the womb. If comments by old country singers chap your ass shove a rolaids eneima up your butt.
My wife and I were discussing the riots, looting, chaos, blm crap, thin blue line, etc. when (I’m not the first) I said “Don’t all lives matter? How can that be hurtful?”.
For the record some young gal during one of the riots somewhere yelled “All lives matter!”. She was promptly shot and killed.
Kind of ironic except she no longer has an opinion on the subject.
My wife, a mother of three, a domestic engineer with 40 years experience - always working overtime, a gardener, a sweetheart simply gave me her take: “Life matters”.
I cannot disagree.
:-)
TM pending. ;-)
Shes about show business. And show business is the same EVERYWHERE.
All she had to say was Id rather not get into it. Like a lot of smart business people are doing. Get woke go broke. But shes not a smart business person.
