Englewood is named as the most blighted neighborhood in the city of Chicago. Its landscaping is almost majority vacant land...vacant because as buildings, stores and dwellings became old and unlivable, they were torn down and nothing was ever built in place.
Obviously, successive generations of Chicago Machine Democrat "leadership" didn't care much about this community at all, ever......and they still don't.

“We refuse to let anyone come to Englewood and tear it up,” one local, Charles McKenzie, told the station.
Even a grandmother of Allen, who was struck by return fire during the police shoot out, blasted the protesters saying there is “no excuse” for it.
“I don’t agree with the looting because that’s just an excuse to get what they want,” Joyce Brown told the Sun-Times.
Neon Nettle reported on Tuesday that BLM members descended on Chicago to rally against police, who arrested more than 100 looters and rioters following recent unrest that caused $60 million worth of damage to property and saw 13 police officers injured.
The rally, which was organized by Black Lives Matter Chicago, took place at a police station in the South Loop were looters were being held in custody.
One organizer described the looting tantamount to “reparations.”
“I don’t care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy’s or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats,” said Ariel Atkins, a BLM organizer, NBC Chicago reported.
BLM is a fraud and scam and mostly made up of very WHITE people most of whom are young women.
