NBA ratings continue to be inexplicably low this month, with all of the Twitter chatter surrounding the league’s return not translating into an actual increase in viewers.
When the NBA resumed its season at the end of July, many observers assumed it would be a ratings boon for all involved. Networks were starved for sports programming as a result of COVID-19, and basketball’s glut of big name stars should have converted into a ton of viewership.
Only it didn’t.
In the first week of action, the NBA’s ratings immediately sputtered. Rather than spiking due to an increase in hype and intrigue around the return of basketball, the numbers dipped to 14 percent below pre-COVID averages.
Last week, the games that took place from Thursday to Sunday drew smaller ratings than the same period the prior week.

Exactly. I have been weaning myself off pro sports for the last couple of years and now I don’t watch any except for my 30 minutes of cardio every day at the gym. I find it helps motivate me to go hard when I am watching others play.
That being said, on Monday I had a basketball game on while sweating away and they kept showing the social justice messages on the backs of their jerseys. I just shut the TV off because I’m sick and tired of being lectured by millionaires about me being the source of inequality! This year has made the sports break easy, and permanent. I’m sick of it.
Maybe it would help if they made their precious BLM sign a little larger.

LOL. I don’t think so and I do wonder how important this factor is to the non-Freeper world. As for me, I still like NBA basketball but it is going to be YouTube highlights for me. Not another dime to Lebron James, the Lakers, the networks and all the rest of the NBA and their advertisers.
I can explain it...the league of losers is anti-American and racist against Caucasians. Look at the percentage of black oafs who play in the league. I want equal opportunity and affirm action for non=blacks. The league sucks. Only those with no life and who self-loathe watch this crapola.
They need to put the basket a couple of feet higher than it is now. Mr. Naismith’s game was never intended to be played by people seven feet high.

National Basketball ratings are low. Since the game does not draw as many eyeballs as expected IMO there should be commensurate drops in advertising revenue, TV payout to the league and less money to the players.
Maybe the management of the league, the owners of the franchises and the players could ideally leave the USA, and live and play basketball in China. The money may not be as grand but at least they would be a happy family in Communist China.

Has the ratings decline occurred in the NHL too? If not, then the distinction between basketball and hockey must provide the answer.

Why waste time watching any infomercial, even one showing delicious food, much less a BLM Inc. one.

Look at the comments to recent YouTube postings on NBA games. They are being scrubbed of everything about the protests.
