Problem is that Mac espouses heterodoxy in opposition to the historical doctrine of the one, holy, universal church.
He also twists doctrine to serve his own whims.
He leads the weak to despair with a too-heavy dose of The Law, allowing the Gospel to peek out occasionally from behind his collection plates.
Mac is just a self-serving social-club speaker hiding behind the Scripture.
No better than Joel Osteen.
Just because he isn’t MSL is no reason to bash “Mac”. He has displayed more courage in these wobbly times than any other evangelical. BTW, where are the MSL voices of strength engaging culture as it heads off the cliff? The closest one I know is a woman named Molly Hemingway. Where are your alternatives to John Macarthur? Just sayin’ You may not agree theologically but comparing him to Osteen? Get over your Lutheran superiority. From a former Lutheran.
Unfair and not true.
Specific examples or I call BS. MacArthur is a good expositor of the scriptures. He does have some areas in which I disagree with him. For example his doctrine of predestination. I hold a modified Arminian position whereas he is Calvinist all the way down. He is a young Earther and I am not. Other than that and sometimes he is a bit abrasive when challenged, his interpretation of the Scriptures is very good.
Historical doctrine of only one church? How about the scriptural teaching? The Catholic church ain't the only one God listens to. You want to talk about twisting the scriptures? They invented it. Can you say indulgences?
