Was it the coin rapture ?
If all our good coins were taken in the blink of an eye, are the coins that got left behind evil ?
If they really stopped striking coins this year, I can see a shortage happening coupled with other issues mostly due to COVID hysteria.
People tend to hoard (unintentionally) coins because they think theyre annoyances. Maybe someday theyll use them, or trade them in, but like my husband and father, mostly they just keep accumulating in a jar somewhere. They take coins only, do not give. (This is probably more a problem with men, since they dont have good carrying systems.)
Some will just collect what they can for fun each year.
Couple this with all people not interacting anymore in the real world. Few opportunities to even use coin.
BTW, this means there will be a low 2020 montage of coins and thus, they will be unusual and worth a little more. Unless everyone hoards the 2020s and theyre not as rare to collectors as they could be.
My opinion, expected inflation would make the material worth more than face value. I expect really cheap coins to follow.
as soon as the rumor went out that there was a coin “shortage”, everyone started hoarding coins, which resulted in a self-fulfilling rumor ... believe it or not, the same thing happened with cat liter early during the covid “shortages” of TP and paper towels ...
fundamentally, there are way too many greedy, selfish, anti-social people, and i’d bet dollars to donuts that the great majority of coin hoarders are leftist assholes ...
i for one have made a point of holding no more than my usual amount of coinage, namely about a dollar’s worth ... i didn’t hoard TP, paper towels or cat litter either ...
Well, gold certainly got its clock cleaned today. Down $93. Maybe the bad money is chasing out the good. Tempted to buy some gold.
I have all of them buried in my backyard! LOL.
Just think of it as another Gov entity trying to ef with US!-)
What better way to control the population than to know how and where everybody is spending their money. And what better way to do that than to tell people there is a coin shortage and to slowly wean people off of using cash?
I wouldn't put it past the government to pitch this scheme but I don't think there actually is a coin or cash shortage myself.
Just another conspiracy theory floating around during this pandemic.
I'm just sayin'....
They think they are going to use the coins to keep the eyes closed during transports and viewings. They are confused
Mocking what God is about to do NEXT is no way to highlight the end of your life
Young people more and more don't handle cash. My millennial children laugh at me with my wallet. They love to just wave the cellphone and pay that way. As my generation dies off, coins (and currency) will go the way of payphones and mailing hand-written letters.
There won't be a government edict or anything "banning" the use of money. The use of it will just slowly fade away as the younger generations supplant us. Whether we like it or not.
Gold obliterated!
