Not likely. This would be Petey's big day. Probably wouldn't want anything to detract from it; and I doubt a VEEP loser would be coming in on a private jet. In addition to that, I don't think the losers would put on a "good" face on such short notice. That's going to take at least another day.
My guess it that the LBGTQ+ staffers conned Biden into believing Petey would be the best way to motivate Democrat voters. My guess is that Trump will pick up another 10% of the black vote and 20% of the Latino vote.

Unless the Biden campaign made a secret inquiry regarding Susan Rice's exposure to prosecution. Rice has way to much vulnerability and way too many questions for which she has no good answers.
Promising the “losers” a good cabinet position or some other cushy, well paying goverenment job will cover a lot of disappointment.
