The Penguins got old. Their top players - Crosby, Malkin and Letang - are all in their mid-thirties.

They won 3 Stanley Cups and that is an awesome record considering many teams see their top players come and go without making it to the top.

Growing up in the 70's and 80's, I just felt bad for the Pens...I don't remember the Flyers losing to them until I was a young adult.

You should have tried living here and having to watch them. They went 15 years/42 games without winning a single game in Philly. They dropped that playoff series to the Islanders after being up 3-0. Bankruptcies. Crappy trades. A couple of seasons with less than 20 wins. Hiring a clueless and besotted Bob Prince to do play-by-play. On the other hand you could always get a ticket.

So Montreal and Chicago have the potential to end up Playing the 5th, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd seeds from their respective conferences.

And then they could meet each other.

I still think that the NHL is less scripted than the other major sports.

There might not be a frozen envelope involved, but conspiracy theories abounded after the Rangers won the NHL Draft lottery Monday night and with it the right to select consensus top pick, heralded Canadian left winger Alexis Lafreniere.

Some of the comments noted that “the Rangers ball looked heavier “.

I was watching the whole time, for the Penguins ball and for any ball seeming to be higher or lower than the rest.

None of that happened. But its fun to see all the “experts” weigh in about how a ping pong ball “looks” heavier.

I didn’t really have a team at first (early 80’s) but the Flyers was on most because of my location.

When Hextall went after Chelios (he went after a few others too) I decided to become a Penguins fan.

They sucked for a long time until Mario but to this day I’m a diehard hockey fan who likes the PA team 4 hours away and hates the team 90 minutes away.

The Avs have a real chance. But the Bruins? Did you see them in the round-robin? They looked disinterested and slow. Heck, my Caps looked like trash and still beat the Bruins. Based on how they’ve played so far, I’d lean towards TB or *gag* Philtha-delphia...
