A female Victoria Police officer's head was allegedly repeatedly "smashed" into concrete last night by a woman who refused to wear a mask.
The 26-year-old officer was allegedly attacked just after 5pm yesterday while on patrol with another officer in the Frankston area, near the Bayside Shopping Centre, in Melbourne's south-east.
"During that time they approached a 38-year-old woman who wasn't wearing a mask," Chief Commissioner Shane Patton said.
"After a confrontation and being assaulted by that woman, those police officers went to ground and there was a scuffle
"During that scuffle, this 38-year-old woman hit the head, smashed the head of the policewoman several times into a concrete area on the ground."

Australian cops are routinely armed, unlike their British or NZ counterparts.
I live in Melbourne. To answer your question, yes police in OZ carry guns. Can’t say I ever seen them carry Tasers. The anti-masker was booked and made bailed to face court at a later date. As of this week, mask are mandatory and you can be fined $200 for not wearing outside (in God’s room) or inside shops that are allowed to be open. Curfew is 8pm to 5am and breaking that rule can earn you a fine of $1,600 and change. Happy days, and to think we only have just over 5 weeks to go.
